Afternoon Folks!!
We all owe Ron Jackson a HUGE THANK YOU for chronicling our industry and our progress for an entire decade. What he has done is priceless and we are lucky to have a professional journalist in our midst. Without his contribution there would be no timeline of our evolution.
Congrats Ron and Diana!! Hope for 10 more and 10 more on top of that!!
Well done!

Knowing Ron since the launch of DNForum in 2002, I was thrilled to finally meet him in person at my first TRAFFIC/Orlando in 2008. Ron’s a rare professional with a sharp sense of humor and a true journalist. Enough said, or it’ll sound like an obituary :-) Many thanks, Ron, wishing you lots of success for many years to come.

I couldn’t agree more! We are all so lucky to have Ron in our industry, an amazing journalist and one of the nicest and most generous people I’ve ever met. Huge thanks to both Ron and Diana, looking forward to another exciting decade ahead.

I learned a lot from Ron and he has always been a force for good in in the industry.
AHEAD OF TIME
We have some AMAZING role models in this industry and Ron Jackson
is someone everyone should lookup to. Ron lives his life doing what he loves and you can see the passion on DnJournal. So many people try to be best only thinking about themselves and wonder why they keep failing in life. Ron is the perfect example to do what you love and that’s the key to being wealthy!!

One of the most laughs I ever got, and this anecdote is absolutely true, was reading Ron Jackson’s first experience with domaining; he wrote his ordeal in the most humorous, and thoughtful way, in that any newbie who didn’t check this out is bound to lose thousands. The story, in a synopsis, is that Jackson set out and registered all the .US names he could get his hands on! I believe it’s a classic. I fell on the floor laughing so hard, because we all had similar experiences, but no one can put it, or capture it, as a teaching moment as Ron do. Here’s to wishing Ron and Diana the greatest life any couple can have, not just as a journalist, TV Reporter, our domain epic chronicler, father and mother, but as great human beings. To 2013 with cheers, champagne, and caviar…

Great acknowledgement Rick. Ron has done an incredible job keeping us all abreast all these years on all the domaining industry events, conferences, players, sales and any and everything domains, with incredible diligence, objectiveness and his love of the industry. Simply – Thanks Ron.

The quality of Ron Jackon’s writing far exceeds what you typically find at Forbes and Forbes would do well by readers to syndicate some of Ron’s stuff. As a blogger I can’t tell you how often I turn to Ron’s archives for background on a story. Thank God he was there taking notes while history was happening. I am most envious of Ron’s personal achievements; the pride and support he expresses for his children and for doing what I haven’t- came to the mid life picture in the mirror and decided he would get healthy and stay healthy. He looks terrific! One thing as a headline writer I take notice of is how many different words he can come up with to report hundreds of sales like:
“SkinRashes.com scratched up $9,769 and HeartStrings.com pulled $5,110. UpInSmoke.com inhaled $5,000 and PersonalCreditService.com secured $2,958.”
I started counting and came up with
generated
drew
hauled in
tuned in
contributed
kicked in
captured
corralled
sounded
grossed
dispensed
drummed up
welcomed
notched
made
cooked
clicked
attracted
hauled
captured
banked
added
notched
cornered
rang up
corralled
tallied
fetched
landed
yielded
produced
discovered
posted
banked
counted out
delivered
deposited

Always playing on the domain and never repeated. That’s talent! The best piece of advice Ron offered was in 2003 when people were smitten with the few reported large sales. He tried to adjust their expectations”In closing we should emphasize that these are the highest value sales that have been reported in the past week. These are not average selling prices. One of the biggest impediments to making sales is pricing domains at unrealistic levels. For most of us, pricing domains at these levels will leave us waiting a long time to make a sale! We hope you will use the information presented here as a measuring stick that will help you price your domains at levels that will put more money in your pocket more often!”
Guess more folks now who couldn’t afford to hold out and had to drop assets, heeded his advice.
Congratulations Ron!

I have learned from Ron’s journal a lot. It gave me the right start in domain game.

Yes, Ron’s journal was right there at the start really before there was anything much being written.. even has he laments, learning about domains at that point was reading igoldrush.com
Agree with others that his use of superlatives shows a creative and agile mind which is good humoured to boot.
Only a few weeks back I had a look through some of the older articles, looking at the prices struck and it gives you an indication of how the market has moved up.
Think it would be great if the journal had some ability for reader interaction and comments.
I did think perhaps the site could do with a spruce up but its now ‘kinda retro, old skool stylie’ as they say, pure html which is quite refreshing although not so sure all the newbies will think the same.
Anyway, here’s to bigger and better things to come as we roll forward to the next boom…

Rick – thanks for your post, very much appreciated. If you had not done what you did – creating T.R.A.F.F.I.C. to give domain investors a place to meet face to face and form real friendships and business relationships – I never could have done what I did with DN Journal.
I remember being a little nervous before that first T.R.A.F.F.I.C. conference in 2004. Though I knew some people from DNForum, I had not yet met anyone in the business in person, I was still very much a newbie with a lot to learn, and I wasn’t sure how interested the many industry pioneers like yourself would be in reaching out to newcomers. From the first time we met you were enthusiastic about what I was trying to do (though it was far from being fully realized at that point) and expressed your encouragement and support. You and the other veterans there made me feel completely at home. I knew then that this business was blessed with a very special group of people, willing to share what they knew with anyone willing to learn, in an effort push domains to the forefront where they belong.
The seeds you planted have helped create and grow an industry into a mighty oak and its not through growing yet! I have been remarkably fortunate to have had a ringside seat in the most exciting arena on the Internet this past decade and I will always be grateful to you for your role in making it all happen.

Thanks for your post Rick.
I would like to congratulate Ron on his 10 Years of running DN Journal. Well done mate!! Without Ron’s work we would not have such a concise record of the domain industry from where it began to where it is today.
Thanks Ron & Diana for all your work. I have had the pleasure of meeting Ron & Diana and the domain industry is extremely fortunate to have them in our company. I wish you many more years of success.
I was lucky enough to interview Ron a few years back on my podcast, for those who would like to hear his story you can listen to it here. http://www.ozdomainer.com/domain-names-podcast-episode-9-with-ron-jackson-from-dnjournalcom/
