Morning Folks!!
I love when folks say "You don't understand". Excuse me, but I do understand. I have traveled that road. That hard bumpy road. I also found the path OFF that hard and bumpy road but it takes something against human nature as we are geared to be in a hurry and when you are in a hurry you don't consider everything you should consider.
Fine, I don't understand. But you are the ones selling diamonds for chump change and then getting mad at folks when they tell you the TRUTH! See I have traveled your path but you have not traveled my path and that included your path as well. So one of us has traveled both paths and if you want to do the same, you need to think differently and look at things differently instead of sitting there shaking your head.
Let's strat with the premise that you are just plain wrong and misguided. If you want to be right, then carry on whatever you are doing. But if you want to change your life and destiny....read on.
Yes, I know, You are too busy to learn. Too busy to do it right. Too busy to slow the pace and be more considerate in what you do. Too busy to distinguish why one domain may be worth $1000 to you and much more to others. Too busy to stop and when you are on that hard bumpy road not stopping will break it all down.
Dare to be great. Dare to better. Dare to be stronger. Dare to say no!
The world does not run by your timeline. So maybe, just maybe, you should think and look on how to adjust your timeline to others. To being there when the trains comes in not after it left. A train station loses most value when there is no train there. So timing it right makes all the difference. All the difference between getting on that train and having a smooth ride or staying on that hard and bumpy road and going nowhere. One takes jet a little planning and the other one is too busy to plan. One gets a result, the other gets frustrated, angry and demoralized. So no only is the road hard and bumpy, it is also leading you in the wrong direction. And maybe you should stop listening to people who have motives that may know even less than you.
So get mad at me for pointing out what I see. But with a little planning you can get to flapping and leave flipping behind and therefore never be flopping.
The difference? Approach, understanding, seeing it through the eyes of others. Understanding what VALUE means. What unique means.
You should have domains that you flip in 20 minutes if you need to, 20 hours if you need to, 20 days if you need to, 20 weeks if you need to, 20 months if you need to and you should have domains that flap around for 20 years. The big problem, few know the difference and that has left them prisoners of that hard and bumpy road. Just a few minutes sorting thru what you have could pave the way to your future. Pave a smoother more rewarding path that has been used by many for a long time. You might have a great poker hand, but if you don't know how to play the game, you lose.
Flipper, flapper, flopper. Your choice!
Have a GREAT day!

Hello Rick,
The heavy promotions that will ensue from the gTLD promoters will , promote Domain Names , and substantiate them as the powerful marketing tools that they reall are. This is a fabulous boon for .COM holders.
Once these marketers believe in them as powerful marketing tools, they will flock to the superior .COM extension.
WHY ?
Once these marketers realize that it takes multiple repeat page views to consumate a suucessful online sale, they will find that their gTLDs are being dropped too quickly for any sale to possibly happen.
In actuality more page views and sales are recorded in the .COM extension.

Companies will spend six figures on consultants, legal fees, IT systems implementation costs, loan closing fees, travel expenses, and all kinds of promotional activities but will still scoff at paying more than reg fee for a domain. Perhaps that view is slowly changing.

This is your best post so far, Rick. Too bad just few are listening.
Jeff
I think we can conclude the following. This post is for people making thousands of dollars a month in passive income and type in traffic. Take away the top 500 domainers and this does not contain to everyday domainer. Some of us have to flip to keep cash rolling in and try upgrade portfolio. IMO
Jeff Schneider
Yes , Jeff you are right, to a degree that the top 500 domainers hold the most powerful Point of Purchase .COM destinations. Its the (Point Of Purchase) that all these gTLDs will lead consumers back to. To be successful it will be more and more evident that to be successful you need a Point of Purchase .COM site. @Jeff
Will agree on the points you raise. I think even Rick will agree on the sales to finance the basics and flipping to improve your portfolio. In fact flipping to improve your portfolio is a good idea, its what many successful domainers have done, simply invest the proceeds into more and higher quality names.

The Chinese understand. They pay 6-7 figures for .coms without blinking. They are/have been HAND REGING .coms left and right…..right NOW (even tho “all the good .coms are taken”…lol right).

Jeff,
you are wrong my friend. It is the path that folks have used for hundreds of years to find success in different mediums with different products. It’s how you grow. It is a roadmap to sidestep that snowball of bills always there trying to moe you down. But you have to zig and zag to actually move forward. It has nothing to do with 500 domainers. You have the same opportunity as any of them. Difference is they believed it and in themselves and you don’t. I believe in you more than you do.

Premium domains are the (USP) of all the top online businesses. It still shocks me how many domainers can’t follow Ricks advice. The domaining community might be small but we have some genius minds guiding us to the path of success. We are very LUCKY and it’s going to take a long time for other new domain investors to get making a great profit level. Being a pro domainer takes years to learn and very few can handle the pressure.

Some names are $500 or $1000 domains. Bread and butter. Some would call these flippable names. The industry is predominantly composed of these types of names, no ? I’m talking about names like CityService.com or clunky brandables or awkward non-sensical 2 word domains. You see them every day on the charts from sedo.

Great post, thanks!
Jeff
Conclusion.. I am going keep focused on buying and selling domains.. Flipping and keep my core names as long term since they generate type in traffic.
Think its more like this…Flippers will eventually gain more respect then this flip flopping videos on .clusterfuck. Thats what it boils down too and ties in trend domainers.. Fan boys and losing money.
At least with flippers who know what there doing, they done very well. I am at first base and not striked out. Something to ponder over Rick. Flippers Vs .Clusterfuck agendas. Now that be a good show
Flippers is just as much of a skill as holding things for 20 years as well.
