Be Relevant First Optimize Later. SEO is a WASTE of Your Time and Efforts! Proof Right Here!

Morning Folks!!

SEO is a fools game. If you have been online 3 seconds that makes you qualified to be an seo guru. Not. There are more SEO Experts than any species on the net. But I stand by something I have said for years. Nothing can compete with 'Relevance'. If you want 'Google Love', don't worry about seo, worry about being good. Being relevant.

Google looks for 'Relevance' more than anything else.

Nothing will trump that even tho they all try.

I get #1 rankings on Google all the time.

I have NEVER EVER done SEO.

Now I am not saying SEO can't help, but it is the smaller piece of the puzzle.

Do a search for 'Rick Schwartz'

Do a search for 'Domain King'

Do a search for Márcio Mello Chaves

Do a search for Marcio Mello Chaves

Do a search for Mello Chaves

Do a search for poster boy hijackers

I could go on and on. Key is all relevance and I have never lifted a finger for seo. NEVER! HOWEVER, I did spend my time and energy on BRANDING. Say what you like, but proof is proof.

Relevance and everything else.

Search cowboys gay

Cowboys.com starts coming up with all this weeks articles about half way down.

Nothing can compete with relevance. Nothing! So unless folks talk about relevance, they are talking out of their ASS!

SEO hurts domains and sometimes for a very long time.

So instead of worrying about spamming search engines, worry about being relevant.

Relevance and everything else. That becomes branding when you do it right and repeatedly.

Now I do know there is seo traffic. But there are problems. The major one being after all the gyrations of SEO, you are lucky to get 5-10 extra visitors a day. So a lot of expense and effort without a lot of result. You would be better off working on your site.

1. You may or may not have the ranking very long. Especially on hotly contested keywords.

2. You may or may not get much traffic as I stated above. Lots of energy and time without much in results.

3. You are never in control. You are a t the mercy of others. Namely Google.

4. It's a fools game. It really is. No person advertising SEO services can compete with REAL seo folks.

5. Better to build a mousetrap and pay for the traffic because it is profitable to do so.

6. Long term damage to a domain name when folks over seo it. And that is always.

7. You are always competing with other seo guys in their underwear in a cave somewhere.

8. Does it sound like I am not a fan of seo?

9. For every one REAL seo guy there are 1 MILLION fakers. Maybe 2 million.

10. Relevance is the key to Google love. I have proved it above. Proof.

I could go on and on.

That said I have known real seo guys and I can tell you that you could not get within 100 feet of them. LITERALLY! They are a protected species. Nobody knows that either. A REAL SEO guy can make unlimited money on the Internet. Problem is most are stuck working for others and don't understand that part.

Have a GREAT Day!

Big Things to be Unveiled at T.R.A.F.F.I.C. Next Week! Including Something”Revolutionary” from Frank Schilling

Morning Folks!!

Big things to be unveiled at TRAFFIC Next Week and now it is starting to surface.

Why did we pick this time of year and October specifically to do most of our annual show since 2004? The #1 reason is because October means BUSINESS! That is when folks really start paying attention again. The financial engine of the universe starts up for the holiday season. In October things happen. Big things happen and BIG decisions are made. This is all teeing off for the season and the following year. Even the cars are mostly unveiled in October. The market goes crazy in October because of what i just started.

Last night Frank Schilling distributed a letter to his group of traffic partners. Frank takes the gloves off and offers a 'Revolutionary' change and one of the frankest writings I have ever seen from him. He is determined to break the status quo wide open and by luck of timing, he will introduce his new baby next week at T.R.A.F.F.I.C. Let me give you one tidbit. You MUST have an iphone 4 or 5 to participate. No droids at this time. He recommends that if you don't have one, you go out and buy one. I wholeheartedly agree. Here in small part is what he had to say:

'I think I’ve found the Gold folks. Something to bring you real value.. No fluff here. Something material and revolutionary. You will ultimately be the ones to tell me if that’s so. During the past 9 months, DNS has taken the first and perhaps the most important step of improving the experience for buyers, of explaining value. For the sellers we have created a process to speed up negotiation and provide greater speed and certainty around negotiation.

I’m very proud of the platform that results from our effort. We think that you will find this software revolutionary to your business – so much so that we’ve patented many elements of it. It will be free to use and open to everyone.

During this project we have revamped the inside of our ITC/DNS management interface to make it more simple and enjoyable to use and improved everything that folks liked. Even our existing partners have never had these tools, permissions or powers. Newcomers will be blown into next week when they see it. We’ve built a very elaborate, but easy-to-use application for which you will need to purchase an iPhone .. (any iPhone, 4 or 5).

We’ve coupled these two pieces with a sophisticated in-house management platform to change the way you think about your domain business. The three elements, Management interface—App—CRM System work together like a piston engine. I plan to announce these changes at TRAFFIC in Ft. Lauderdale. I have no particular reason for choosing TRAFFIC as the venue to launch this product other than the dates align with our readiness and I’ll be there as an attendee.'

As Frank does that I am reading on DNJournal.com that Afternic will be unveiling their newly designed site with all types of new bells and whistles.

I am privy to a few other introductions and a couple of delayed which could be because of the crowded field of what is going to come out next week at TRAFFIC. I also am seeing companies disappearing and melting down. It's not going to be easy from here on out and if you see what Frank wrote, you know that he too sees things far beyond the confines of domaining that are sure to affect us all in the coming year. Let's just say 'Challenging' will be an understatement.

I am on record as saying the 3 months before the election and the 3 months after the election would be some of the most volatile months we have ever seen in our lifetimes. We are in that gravitational pull right now. Just look at a world on fire.

The big puke is coming and then things will get better. Much better. Just like a stomach ache. And then it goes away.

Have a GREAT Day!

Rick Schwartz

Do you WAIT for Things to Happen or do You MAKE things happen??

Morning Folks!!

I really feel bad for those struggling in life. Terrible in fact. That is why I spend so much time and energy trying to show folks what I see and how I see it and how I can work at my leisure and accomplish more in 1 day then some folks can in a year or more because they are 'Decision-ally Paralyzed'. Unable to make a decision. Unable to accept defeat which means they are unable to accept a win.

It pains me to see so many questioning their domains and business investment model because they hear the loud chatter out there telling them black is white. That the gtld with 61% leakage is somehow superior to your easy to spell one or two word .com domain names that are used universally.

Come on. But I keep my mind open and I am capable of being swayed, but I am not capable of losing faith in my .coms. One has nothing to do with the other. Same as Moon to Mars. They are both in space but one does not have much to do with the other. I have more faith in my domains than my dollars by a wide margin. I sleep well knowing I own the domains I do. I don't sleep as well knowing that my buying power for my dollar is likely to take a major hit next year and every day until then. The domain name will become my single greatest hedge in the future against inflation.

ALL and ANY .whatever will LEAK to the .com counterpart. PERIOD! Every single one of them. The ONLY thing that will vary is the size of that hole. So far the evidence of the only true test, shows a 61% leakage. That is more than a leak. That is more than a gusher. That is a failure beyond anything anyone expected including myself. I was in the 25%-35% camp until Mr. Johnson and the folks at Overstock.com spent millions and millions and millions to find out that they lost an amazing and astounding 61% of all their traffic.

Advertising is about targeting simple things to simple people. Techies trying to duplicate the hoola hoop have SEVERE head winds and don't understand human behavior.

Sorry, I went a bit off on a tangent. But it needed to be said as I see what I see.

Just look at Cowboys.com. We as a group of quality folks could not make a decision. 5 YEARS went by and finally a decision was basically forced. SUCCESS!! I like .TV and I like .ME. Do you really think the same scenario for those extensions (cowboy.me or cowboys.tv) would have been like it was and the publicity it got for the .com?? It would have been .meaningless. No story at all. That's a key!

But as I stated privately, it took 5 YEARS for a decision that should have been made in 5 MINUTES. Paralysis in the flesh. Change that ONE THING and you have the power to change the world. Fear is what prevents success. 10 type 'A' personalities does not have the power of two like minded people. THAT is the lesson I learned from the Cowboys.com deal. No regrets. I would do it again. I am glad I am a stockholder in such a great domain name. We are only up to chapter 2 of this story. Much more to cum. :-)

There is one thing Howard and I can claim that no other show can. We are 100% paid attendance. Everyone pays. Our rates are published and there are no 'Comps'. PERIOD! No other show can claim this as far as I know. Is there a difference? You bet there is and I am going to prove it right here right now!

Now doing this over the years and actually enforcing it has not been easy. Has made me no friends. But when my best buddy pays and the top domainers pay, then everyone should pay and be equal. And so they do and it hasn't been easy for all these years. But we have a formula that works and continues to work. When folks have 'SKIN' in the game they are more likely to do deals so they can see a concrete result for their efforts. If it did not work, folks would not come from half a world away where they easily have to add thousands in expenses just to get here let alone 20 hours on a plane or more.

Simply put...T.R.A.F.F.I.C. works because T.R.A.F.F.I.C. really does mean B.U.S.I.N.E.S.S. We never have 'Extras from Central Casting' just to fill seats or have more noise.

Do you really want to deal with the guys you see out there with bad judgement like my new friend Roger this week? How many folks like that do you want to waste your time with? We don't exclude them, but the bar is set high for a reason. They must at least be 'Financially qualified'. The only way you do that is doing what we do. And when we start prices at $995 like we will do for all the shows, the bar is set reasonably enough for anyone with true passion and desire to make the leap and attend. GREAT things happen when you actually put yourself out there.

Next week we expect some 300 domain investors to drop in and take their destiny in their own hands. They don't WAIT for things to happen, they MAKE things happen. I learned about making things happen back in the mid 1980's and early 1990's. The difference in sitting on the sidelines and being passive or jumping in and being aggressive. Passive did not get you where you are today. DID IT??

Ya know what troubles me the most? Domainers questioning the future of their holdings. If they are solid domains, the future is bright and there is absolutely nothing to worry about. If you have portfolios of .nets and .whatevers, you better have prime one worders or something naturally meaningful. Get rid of the crap. Replace with quality and you will be on track again. Been repeating that for many years now.

When you see the future like I see the future, you would never second guess yourself again. You all listen to too much noise. Much of that noise with an agenda. Until you can see and understand the difference, you will be lost in space with no compass. That makes me terribly sad. Like fish swallowing the bait. Bad ending and it doesn't have to be that way. You just need to identify it before the fact!

Have a GREAT Day!

Rick Schwartz

Cowboys.com Fiasco Comes Down to 1 Question!!

Morning Folks!!

I have only one question that blows the lid of all the bullshit of the Cowboys.com fiasco. It's really the only question.

See the attorney did not bid on Cowboys.com without being sent. Somebody sent him or there was a MEETING and he was sent to bid.

So my one and only question is why would you pick a $750/hour lawyer to buy a $275 item? That's the one that cuts through all the lies and bullshit.

'Some People tell me I have a short temper. I prefer to call it a swift and assertive reaction to BULLSHIT'

Someday when I have some time I will go through the 3500 comments as I am sure their stuff is just as good if not better.

This Week's front page Yahoo! story now has some 3500 comments in less than 24 hours. Some of them are brutal. It started here last week on MSNBC.com and then CBS in Dallas. Then it hitDeadSpin.com just before it spins out of control yesterday and 1 week later it is still growing. The whole city of Dallas is buzzing.

Then it hit CNBC.com. Then CNET.com. Then the HuffingtonPost.com

In Philly, they talk about the Eagles.com.

The 'Trojans' are now worried. As are other teams that have a 'Gay' outlook. Buccaneers Titans.

Bottom line.....It doesn't pass the laugh test. Anyone with a brain the size of a PIGEON can see through that nonsense. But it is a part of history now and it took 5 YEARS for the story to really get out.

Have a GREAT Day!

Remembering Halvarez and Where he is Today.

Morning Folks!!

Those that forget history are destined to repeat history.

So let's remember Halvarez and that fiasco and the cover-up that followed. Where is Halvarez today? Wouldn't you like to know who is employing this guy?

See Halvarez faked you out of much more than domains and money. He robbed you of your TIME, EFFORT and OPPORTUNITY. None of which can ever be replaced. A crime against each during a unique opportunity in time.

So I am sure those that covered it up would like to forget. I won't let them and either should you. Halvarez did not work alone. He had accomplices and help. He was supported by CORRUPTION. To this day I believe there were multiple companies involved. I believe it was wider spread than anyone knows. It was a 'Culture' of lies and deceit. It was how 'Business' was done. Make no mistake, he did not act alone. He took the fall because the other companies might have collapsed. That's what I believe to my CORE!

Here is a link to the many articles I wrote at the time and your comments.

Forgetting is the real crime! And for the record. I was never in any of those auctions. I never participated. So I look at it as the damage it did to many individuals and to the industry as a whole. How much it robbed so many of you at a very important stage. You can forgive, but you can NEVER EVER forget!

Have a GREAT Day!

Phones on Fire. Phone Bidding HOT! Ricks Personal Picks for the Auction.

Morning Folks!!

Now that folks see that nearly 60% of every domain at the T.R.A.F.F.I.C. is NO RESERVE and there are some DEALS to be had, our phone registration page is now the busiest page on our website!

We can handle up to 10 phone bidders on any single lot. Thse bidders must be registered by next Friday October 5th to be included. Once we have 10 phone bidders on any particular domain, we will cut off the signups. So if you are really serious about getting a bargain, there should be a sense of urgency in your actions. You can't wait until the last minute and be included. Sorry.

Tuesday we closed auction submissions early as we had more contracts out than slots we really wanted to fill. So I can post the final list this Friday instead of just closing submissions. That gives you more time to research the domains and I can tell you there is gold in them thar hills. Domains that meet my threshold of a 10x-100x upside when you look at it thru my eyes and how I look at domains. 6 figure domains that can be bought for a few grand. Domains that Fortune 500 companies can use in an advertising campaign.

Now that the contracts are signed and I can sit back and look at what I have put together. Check out lot #140 with no reserve. Some I don't like. But there are some there I really like and I think others may just see a few names that have value.

Tumors.com and Fibre.com. DUH! No Reserve. $1 takes them. Maybe. Doubful. No way. CONTEST!

Lot #104 DesPlaines.com a city name for $1000 reserve. Are you kidding? BARGAIN! Somebody could flip for $10k or hold out for more.

Lot #105 AmusementPark.com. It's not $1MM. It's not even $500k. It's not $250k. It's not even half that as a reserve. It's a great domain. Will a domainer buy it? Long shot. But an end user could gobble it up if we get the word out.

Lot#106 gtldforum.com (No Reserve) Somebody is going to be the tool shed for that market. The next Adam Dicker. Then again Maybe Adam Dicker will not allow that. Who knows?

Lot#111 AnsweringMachines.com (No Reserve) It's a business. It may be passe for some, but it is still a viable business and this proves it:

http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=answering+machines&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

Lot#112 CheapLaptops.com (Aggressively Priced) and mean aggresively if you want to make a dent in a market. It's another business in a domain name.

Lot#114 NavigationGlasses.com (Low Reserve) You don't buy yesterday you go for tomorrow. With self driving Google cars release this week, smart glasses on the horizon. It's called investing for a reason. You bet on a hunch.

Lot#119 FanClub.com (Opportunity knocking) Another domain that can change your destiny.

Lot#120 Saws.com and MiterSaws.com 7400 August type ins (Greatly Reduced) This domain is about 50% off what it has been listed for in the past. Another business in a domain. Another category you can own.

Lot#141 VisitBogota.co (No Reserve) Imagine ME picking a .CO!! But this one has meaning and is a good use of .CO. A natural use.

I may do this again. I just picked a handful. But I saw something in every domain I picked. I don't use Estibot, I use my gut. But somebody plugged my list into Estibot yesterday and the resuts suprised me on both ends of the spectrum. It has helpful info but nothing can substitute for the gut and knowing what has value and what does not. But there are sleepers on this list that can be huge.

Like always all the mouths will come out and say how shitty this is or that is but not one of them will be among the 350 core domainers because they look at things differently. Some see opoortunity and some see nothing. I can only pick from the pool of domains out there and are submitted.

I have never 'Handicapped' domains before. But I wanted to give you a little window into my picking process. How I think and what I do to pick domains. Why? Because so many of the domains that I see out there are pigeon shit. PURE pigeon shit. Those folks will probably curse me out and tell me what a crappy list.

Folks are always complaining that I don't give examples of what I consider domains of value. So here is a list. Not all have value to ME. But I have to look at things through many sets of eyes. John Jones for example.

I have been as transparent as possible. I listed each and every domain as they were selected and the contracts came in. I did no favors. I just tried to make this puppy work and on October 8th I/WE get the report card.

This is the SEMI-FINAL list. Results and everything else and I PROMISE a RESULT or it is ALL on me! I will take 100% responsibility for any failure. But I have a 3 year and a 3 phase program and I intend to have a success with your help!

I might write about what I see in some of the other lots as time goes on. Just to illustrate what I see and why I see it.

If you only effort is to try and rip apart what we are doing, you only hurt yourself. So have at it.

Thank you Domaining.com!!

Morning Folks!!

Just a quick shout out to Francois for displaying the wanted poster of Marcio Mello Chaves on the home page of Domaining.com for 1 week at no charge! I was surprised and elated to see it up the other morning. If we don't defend OUR own industry and protect our livelihoods, tell me exactly who is going to do it?

Evening folks!!

Earlier today I had to close submissions to our auction. They have been coming in fast and furious and then all the contracts had been sent and now all but a couple have been returned and I am reserving 5 slots for headliners above and beyond what we already have.

We now have 350 domains in the auction in less than 100 lots. We are registering phone bidders and I think you are all going to be surprised when you see COMBUSTION!

52 of 93 lots are NO RESERVE!! That's incredible and thanks goes to those that understand what we all need to do and have really stepped up to the plate. You are going to see some real action when the gavel goes down!

Here is the press release that came out just a couple hours ago and is already being picked up.

Here is the semi-final list: Good luck to all the sellers and buyers have a big opportuity here.

Will Cowboys.com be on the Auction Block? T.R.A.F.F.I.C. Domain Submissions Now CLOSED!

Morning Folks!!

I have to stop submissions to the domain auction at this point. There are already enough contracts out there to bring us to 100 and I am reserving a few slots for some last minute additions.

Will Cowboys.com be on the auction block?

I doubt it this time around but things are fluid and moving quickly. Yesterday's front page Yahoo! story now has some 2700 comments in less than 24 hours. Some of them are brutal. It started here last week on MSNBC.com and then CBS in Dallas. Then it hit DeadSpin.com just before it spins out of control yesterday and 1 week later it is still growing.

All with STRONG opinions attached followed by comments from various groups of folks.

There are now stories that started last week and continue and grow. It will hit TV soon. Mark my words. This is having a life of it's own and it is so STUPID and UNBELIEVABLE in so many respects I don't even know where to start.

I have not commented on this so far but let me write what I did this morning when asked. And let me state, I am talking for myself and not the group.

'Let me say this....It was only a matter of time before this happened.

When you do something stupid, it comes back to haunt you. This was beyond stupid and helps to illustrate just how wrong Madison Avenue has been in regards to domain names. They have really let their clients down by being behind the curve when it comes to domain names.

Corporate America has been behind the curve as well, maybe because they depend on Madison Ave. But then again I always ask why not one CEO or any exec up and down the line at Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, Holiday Inn, Westin, just name your hotel chain and ask why not a single one figured out that if they owned Hotels.com they would have a leg up on the competition. Have first shot over their competition because a domain like hotels.com gets several hundred THOUSAND type ins back as early as 1996. They all FAILED!

When the Dallas Cowboys attorney stated he thought it was $275 and not 275,000 back 5 years ago, after 10 minutes of bidding, few of us believed him. I mean how much is the guy paid an hour?

But when they passed and made it clear that they were the DALLAS Cowboys and not the Cowboys that gave a group of us the permission and power to scoop up this very valuable domain name.

They fumbled the ball in public and it was sure to come back and bite them in the butt. The Yahoo story along with about 5 other stories see clearly the screwup.

That's what happens when you make a bad decision. A bad play. A turnover.

We would have been just as happy to show the DALLAS Cowboys how having MULTIPLE entrances to their website is not much different than having multiple entrances to their stadium. Imagine if their stadium only had one door. The game would be over before they could get all the people through that one door. DUH!'

This story is FAR from over. Bad decisions never go away.'
