Morning Folks!!
While Deanfest was the first meeting of domainers that I
helped to organize via my chatboard, it was not the first domain meeting for us. The day BEFORE Deanfest (October 13, 2002) there were 44 of us (50 were at DeanFest) that met at McCormick and Schmick's just
off Rodeo Drive.
Howard and I organized a lunch. We had a private room upstairs and all stood up and introduced ourselves. I
remember it clearly as I was the one who picked up the $1500++ tab. So for the
record………THAT was the first meeting of big time domainers. Two years later, T.R.A.F.F.I.C. was born.
Have a GREAT Day!

PS: Sahar just posted pics from Bocafest 2002. (My Kitchen earlier in the year)

And the most memorable moment at Deanfest is when we chased the guys from Wine.com out running with their coats. They wanted to sell bottles of wine one at a time and we wanted to sell truckloads one at a time. That was just too much for them to get their heads around and they literally ran out the door. PISSED!
I felt horrible as it was my question that was the tipping point. I ran over to Dean and apologized. Dean Just started laughing and said”Their loss.”
And so it went…….

And before that……maybe 2001

That was Bocafest, David Carter wasn’t there (he came to visit a year later with his family and we met at your house). Marcia also didn’t make it, got stuck on the road. It was really small and if you remember I made candy bags for everyone before I arrived :)

Does anyone have pics from the events in 2002?

Rick, the wine.com incident was several years later in SF when Fab had a meeting next adTech. That was classic!

Damn Mike, I guess you are right. It is all such a damn blur. That’s why I need the pictures…..lol
To me that was the coolest moment ever and it showed what we have been up against.

Gatherings, get togethers, product releases etc there were and are many of them but I would call this: http://web.archive.org/web/20021017070615/http://domainnameconference.com/index.html the first true domain conference.
